We all know the season of elections is coming when you see the roadside draped in endless signs with last names and red white and blue colors on them. But what about on the television?Tv can control the way you live your life more than you thought. It can even be a huge deciding factor of which president will be elected! it is projected that in the 2016 presidential election that runners of the election will spend about 1.1 billion dollars on tv advertising for their campaigns.“No one ever lost a campaign because they were on TV,” said Dave Carney, a Republican strategist. “They’ve lost campaigns because they weren’t on TV.” This statement is true to me because if not for tv and social media, i would have never formed the opinion that i think donald trump should be president nor would i ever had known he was running for president. One reason tv is such an effective way of reaching out to america is because when it comes to voting, Americans are extremely lazy. So campaigners have put themselves on tv for the lazy Americans to easily get information on these candidates. Although the tv rein for campaign advertisements may soon come to an end. more and more of social media users are eligible to vote to the point where social media users will be a very large portion of the voters for future presidential campaigns. And the beauty about social media is the advertisement can get to the potential voter a lot quicker and cheaper than a television ad.And don't forget about the newspaper, although it seems completely irrelevant in presidential campaigns, studies show that an older person is more likely to participate in voting rather than a younger person and one of the main forms in which older people get their news is in fact the newspaper.I agree that media, especially tv is the number one influence on presidential campaigns. People decide on who to become president through what they hear and see on the news, which is media. older people read the newspaper, middle aged adults watch tv and young adults look at social media for daily news. all these things are forms of media. I think donald trump has taken advantage of the saying ‘’there is no such thing as bad publicity’’. Donald Trump has not held back any words or personal opinions during his campaign, which had people in an uproar, but that also meant that donald was on every tv station in the nation. Trump has found an effective way to get voters on his side because he leads the polls currently with 40% of the voters on his side which is tremendous this early in the race. Media is a powerful tool in this world that is addicted to technology, so powerful that it can even be the deciding factor on who wins the 2016 presidential election. And if it werent for media i wouldnt even know there was an election coming up.
